Out of Memory Error in MS Outlook 2007

MS Outlook 2007 is one of the most widely used e-mail client applications in the world.  Like applications, it sometimes experiences issues that require the use to take specific action to resolve.  One of the more common errors users experience is an Out of Memory Error.  This error is often accompanied by:

Error code:  0x8007000E

This error usually occurs because the computer system does not have enough resources available to process the desired actions within MS Outlook 2007.  Closing other running programs and trying again will often resolve the issue.  Users who leverage MS Outlook heavily may find that the error persists even when Outlook is the only program running.  In these situations the source of the issue is in the Outlook PST file.  The most likely problems with the PST file are:

Corrupt e-mail profile

Corrupt e-mails

Overly large PST file

Users should begin by deleting any e-mails that are no longer necessary.  If any of these e-mails are corrupt, this may resolve this issue.  Deleting these e-mails will also help reduce the size of the PST file.  If the problem persists, users will need to run the Scanpst.exe utility to address the problem.  This utility is located in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

Once the utility is running, browse to the PST file and click Scan.  The utility will automatically repair any corruption it finds.  In some cases, the damage may be so extensive a third party application will be required.  These Outlook PST Repair applications are capable of fixing severely damaged PST files.
