Common Scanpst.exe Errors
MS Outlook is one of the most popular email client applications in the world. It is used by businesses and individuals to manage their calendars, e-mail correspondence and keep their daily activities organized. When Outlook fails to function correctly damage or corruption to the Outlook PST file is the most common reason. The PST file stores all of the user’s information and data used by Outlook.
It is not uncommon for the PST file to become damaged or corrupted. Resolving these issues is normally accomplished by running the Scanpst.exe tool. The tool will scan the file and repair the corrupted PST data. The Scanpst tool is able to quickly and safely repair the most common issues like PST file header corruption and broken data links.
In some cases, the Scanpst tool will be unable to repair the damage. When this is the case, the user will be presented with a Scanpst error message. The most common error messages the user will see are:
Client Error: 0×80040600
Fatal Error: 80040900
An unknown error has occurred
Errors have been detected in the Pst file
Scanpst entry point not found
Outlook.pst is not a personal folder data file
Data Error (cyclic redundancy test)
Messaging interface has created an unknown error
When any of these errors appear, the damage to the PST file is too severe for the Scanpst tool to resolve. In these instances, the user can either reinstall the MS Outlook application or use third party software like our Scanpst.exe Pro. These tools are designed to repair severe damage or corruption to the Outlook PST file.
