Cannot Send E-mails in Outlook
MS Outlook is useful application for managing e-mails, appointment and a variety of other organizational tasks. When a program with such diverse functionality stops working properly, it can be a very stressful situation. One of the more problematic issues Outlook users are reporting is the inability to send e-mails. Users are able to receive and read new e-mails but they cannot reply or send new e-mails. Instead they are shown the error message:
An unknown error has occurred. Error Code: 0x00ccc81
There are several possible reasons this error message will appear. The most common is incorrect account settings. Users should verify that their MS Outlook application is properly configured according to the instructions of their e-mail account provider. Corrupt e-mails stored in the inbox can also cause this error to occur. Users should delete any e-mails that are no longer needed. The final cause of this error is a damaged Outlook PST file. Users can repair the PST file by running the Scanpst.exe utility located in:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
Double click on Scanpst.exe and browse to the PST file. Click Scan to initiate and the process of repairing corrupt or damaged data within the PST file. In most cases this will resolve the issue. If users are still unable to send e-mails, there are several Outlook PST Repair utilities available from third party vendors that fix severely damaged PST files.
